Simple Skincare, Busy Mornings
With school mornings just around the corner, we asked Nikki how we can help our teens get back into a simple skincare routine — without adding one more complicated thing to the morning rush.
Meet Dr. Nikki Huffman
Dr. Nikki Huffman is a board-certified dermatologist, Bluffer, mom and partner at Dermatology Partners of the North Shore in Northbrook.
She treats both adults and children, with expertise that includes adolescent dermatology, skin cancer screening and treatment, and aesthetic dermatology.
Her advice: keep it simple. Too many products and too many steps usually mean it won’t get done. Instead, Nikki recommends focusing on three basics:
1. Cleanse
Start with a gentle cleanser to wash away oil and impurities without stripping the skin. Nikki recommends CeraVe Gentle Cleanser for an easy everyday option.
2. Moisturize
A little hydration goes a long way. Hyaluronic acid helps the skin hold onto moisture and is an easy addition that doesn’t overcomplicate things.
3. Protect
Before heading out the door, finish with sunscreen. Nikki likes La Roche-Posay tinted mineral SPF for everyday protection.
That’s it: cleanse, moisturize, protect. Three simple steps that can fit into even the most rushed school morning.
