Remembered: Michael Joseph Hehman
May 25, 1948 - May 12, 2026
Mike was a devoted father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend whose impact on Lake Bluff extended far beyond his own family.
A Winnetka native and graduate of Northwestern University’s business school, he enjoyed a successful career as a marketing executive. He was the proud father of three sons and grandfather of seven.
An original resident of Tangley Oaks, he moved into the neighborhood in 1984 when much of it was still under construction. Over the years, he became something of a local legend as the neighborhood’s original Santa’s helper, riding in the back of the family station wagon to deliver presents to children throughout Tangley.
He also served as commissioner of Lake Bluff Little League and was known for his love of building Jeeps, smoking cigars, and the many beloved boxers that shared his home over the years.
He is survived by his sons, Michael (Michelle) Hehman of Lake Bluff, Timothy (Jessica) and Matthew (Alice), along with grandchildren Michael, Emma, Matthew, Colin, Addison, Freddie, and Rosie.
Above all, he loved his family, his friends, and his community. He would have been especially pleased to know that his story appeared in the pages of our local newspaper.
