Village Announces Appointment of New Public Works Commissioner

LAKE BLUFF, IL — Village officials have neither confirmed nor denied reports that seven-year-old Henry Dressler has assumed responsibility for road construction, sidewalk repairs, garbage collection, tree trimming and slowing speeding cars near his home on Sheridan Place. Bluffers report frequent sightings of Henry at construction sites throughout town, often wearing a hard hat, high-visibility vest, police uniform, or other job-appropriate attire. Witnesses say he appears to be conducting inspections, offering guidance, and occasionally supervising adult professionals. A longtime admirer of trucks, heavy machinery, and public works crews, Henry has spent years building relationships with workers throughout Lake Bluff. His resume reportedly includes visits to Ozinga truck yards, garbage truck ride-alongs, construction site consultations, and assistance with the Scranton Avenue sidewalk project. When asked why so many crews allow him to help, Henry offered a simple explanation: “Probably because I have red hair.”

At press time, Village officials had not confirmed Henry’s appointment. Henry has not denied it.
